Oooh, I really like the imagery of Liberty with her eyes possibly gouged out. I'm tempted to steal the idea and do my own riff on it.

I love that top figure - there's some painting out there (Baroque, though I can't remember the title or artists) I think it has to do with the French revolution or something. Oh, I remember the name, 'Liberty leading the people' ( [link] rev=/images%3Fq%3Dliberty%2Bleading%2Bth e%2Bpeople%26hl%3Den%26lr%3D )

Anyhow, the top figure reminds me of that.
